RVA St Vincent

RVA St Vincent

Since the re-opening of the Academy in 2007, more than 140 International volunteers have been trained to work with Humana People to People in Africa and Ecuador.

The volunteer training programs in RVA are in essence similar to the ones at IICD Michigan and Massachusetts, but RVA is a bit different. Participants are not just training to go to a developing country, they are learning in a developing country with many possibilities to take part in creating improvements right from the start.

The Academy runs several projects besides the training of volunteers: a community center in the North Leeward area of St. Vincent, a farm and a Nature and Hiking Center. Richmond Vale Academy is a unique learning Institute in the Caribbean, we have so far granted 6 full scholarships to local residents and in 2013 another 4 full scholarships will be granted.

At the Academy we organize and participate in several outreach activities like Open Saturdays, World Coastal clean up day, Rose Hall Community Center upgrade, and scheduling of education and sports clubs in the area. We also take part in actions for orphans and people with physical limitations throughout the year.

We are proud of our farm where we produce limes, vegetables, bananas, pineapples, pitayas, passion fruit and we even raise sheep and pigs! To find more information about RVA check out our website at www.richmondvaleacademy.org or on our You Tube channel at www.youtube.com/jesperfriis
